Penny Dunbabin Memorial Trophy for Premier League Women’s Best & Fairest
Coming to the club from Devonport, to play alongside her sister, Robyn McCambridge, Penny played A-Grade for OHA Women in the late 1990s. As an ex Olympian, Penny had a wealth of experience and class. She was an exceptional leader and valued team member.
Penny was a true role model, and everyone who has had the pleasure of playing hockey with her, has the up most respect for her. She possessed the best ‘sportsmanship’ of any player.
Penny is a member of the Tasmanian Sporting Hall of Fame and was the first Tasmanian ever to have made an Olympic women’s hockey team.
Penny won this award multiple times, and after retiring from A-Grade, she played in the inaugural OHA Women’s Veteran’s team, who won the premiership in that first year. She went on to win the Hockey South Veteran’s Women Best & Fairest in 1999, 2000 & 2001.
This award was named in honour of her, after her passing in 2014. Acknowledging her lasting contribution to womens hockey at OHA, both on an off the field.
