As the pointy end of the 2019 PL season beckons, the OHA Men pulled off a very handy last-gasp 2-1 win over Derwent in the 4.30pm game on Saturday 27th.

Derwent rested a few good players ahead of finals, and Kurt Mackey was on the injured list for OHA, but James Thomas was fit to go after missing two games. Derwent scored first, with an excellent deflection in the first quarter. The score remained 1-0 for a long time, with good defending and goalkeeping at both ends blunting attacks. Eventually, OHA found an equaliser from Sam McCambridge after a run into the circle and pass from Will Boyce. Then to put the cherry on the just-iced cake, Jo Murphy flicked high to the left from a PC taken after the final siren, and the OHA crowd celebrated a win that was as tight as they come.

This was a crucial result, as the rivals for 3rd and 4th places on the ladder both collected points too – Canterbury having a draw with NWG and Uni a win over D/Backs. After 17 rounds, OHA is in 3rd place, a solitary point above Canterbury and just one win ahead of 5th-placed Uni. Important games ahead – Uni, Canterbury and D/Backs are the OHA tasks in the final three rounds.
