The OHA Green Day had been four years, some may say 100 years, in the making!
Your dedicated Centenary Committee lead by Chairman, Chris Sargent has been planning and giving hours upon hours of time and energy to ensure the GREEN DAY one was to remember – Everyone who attended will know, they achieved this in spades!
With over 360 OHA players, life members, juniors, seniors, coaches, supporters, sponsors and extended family members, it was indeed a historic and significant ‘Club Day’.
The club spirit and camaraderie of OHA is something we all admire and cherish. This comes from the many generations we are proud to have associated and connected with our club. The focus on being a family club has always been at the core of what we do.
On Saturday, there was no better way to highlight this as we had past players and members aged in their late 80’s down to our youngest family member of fewer than three months old! They were all captured in our centenary photos.
The night was celebrated with the cutting of a green 100th birthday cake with 100 candles to a stirring and passionate rendition of happy birthday followed by our club song ’We are OHA’.
We also thank all our appointed club photographers on the day who manage to capture the spirit and essence of who we are at OHA in a social, sporting and cultural way.
Thanks to Ian Chambers, Steph O’May, Nev Price, Rowan Bridley and many others who have sent us in their images. If you have some images of the day, please send them to: 100years@ohahockeyclub.com
We also thank Hayden Steele for the beautifully presented pop up shop of club merchandise which generated a lot of interest.
Hayden, even with a broken wing suffered during his game on the day, returned from his hospital visit to be one of the last to leave at the end of the night.
If anyone missed the opportunity to purchase club merchandise please contact contact Hayden direct on: uniforms@ohahockeyclub.com
