Premierships were hard to come by for OHA women’s teams since their re-entry into the Southern Tasmanian Women’s Hockey Association competition in 1976.
However, the Under 16 Girl’s team became the toast of the club in 1986 after they reached the grand final and won the premiership. Karen Woolford, one of the team members recollects:
“The grand final was played at Sandown in Sandy Bay in the afternoon. There was a lot of pressure on us as no OHA teams were winning in those years. To have men and women senior players come down and watch us play, it was a big thing”.
The players were:
Debbie Hellmuth, Zoe Gough, Karen Woolford, Jane McGinniss, Nicole Clifford, Rebecca Gough, Karen Gillie, Susan Powell, Stephanie O’May, Alison Green, Rachel Green, Dianna Woodberry, Jo Morrisby
Coaches: Richard Harris & Jan Patmore
