TOMORROW will see the first Hobart Jaguar Land Rover Junior Cup, or ‘Junior Lightning Cup’ being played.
The Junior Lightning Cup will follow the same format as the Senior Lightning Cup, with round robin games played over 1 day, and the team with the highest number of points in each division being crowned the winners.
The competition will be played in two divisions:
Division 1 will consist of a combined U15s and U18s team (Aged 14 – 18)
Division 2 will consist of a combined U13s and U15s team (Aged 11- 15)
There will be a girls & boys team in each division, and games will see the girls playing the 1st and 2nd quarters of each match and the boys playing the 3rd and 4th quarters.
In each match the scores will remain throughout and the final scores will be a combination of both genders over the 4 quarters.
A point of difference with the Lightning Cup games will be the scoring – 1 goal will be awarded for Penalty Corner conversions and 2 goals will be awarded for all Field Goals & Penalty Stroke conversions.
It’s sure to see players hungry to score goals & will make for a great day of hockey so head on out to see our talented juniors in action.
