Craig “Thommo” Thompson Encouragement Award for Umpiring

The aim of the award is to identify a Club Member/Player who has demonstrated a substantial commitment to Umpiring during the past year, and to recognise their achievements.
The award is open to all financial Members of the OHA Hockey Club who are 16-years old and over.
Craig ‘THOMMO’ Thompson was a legend in the Club and was widely regarded by all who played alongside him together with those on opposing sides. He was renowned for his disputes with umpires and his regular comments to his team mates, and to his wife Kate was about the decisions the umpires made and how the game needs better umpires. For this reason Kate believes that having a Club Trophy in memory of THOMMO may encourage people within the Club to volunteer to umpire and to improve the standard of umpiring generally.
