The OHA Premier League Men played an exciting 1-1 draw with ladder leaders NWG on Saturday 12-9-20. Both sides were minus an injured striker, but NWG has been a high-scoring team all season, so holding them to a single goal was a great job. The excellent first-running of Jo Murphy and Jayden Vince in penalty corner defence blunted the power of the NWG drag-flick arsenal, which has been one of their main weapons all season. Henry was delighted to have so many shots cut off, but still had a few to save, especially in the first half when the NWG forwards were a constant threat. The score was 1-0 to NWG at half time, but in the second half OHA had more scoring opportunities and the equalizer came from a Jo Murphy drag flick low into the left corner of the goal. OHA remains third on the ladder, and that looks likely to be the position at the start of finals. However, OHA is the one team to have matched NWG throughout 2020, splitting the results evenly with one win, one loss and a draw each from their three meetings during this shortened season. NWG may still be flag favourites, but OHA would fancy a chance against them if that opportunity arose in the finals series.
