Long time OHA supporter & player, Kate Thompson sadly passed away on Saturday 5th September.
Kate was 61, and is now reunited with her beloved Craig (Thommo), who was also a long time OHA member.
Both Kate & Craig were such great supporters, players, and stalwarts of the club, with Kate making the trip from the mainland to attend our Club’s Centenary dinner last year.
Kate was part of the premiership winning 4th grade women’s team in 1994, but hockey wasn’t her only accomplishment. Kate completed a psychology degree in her 40’s and in true Kate style, she got her motorbike licence in her late 40’s.
Kate also instigated the Thommo Encouragement Award for Umpiring in memory of her husband Craig, who was renowned for his disputes with umpires, as she wanted a trophy that may encourage people within the Club to volunteer to umpire and to improve the standard of umpiring generally.
Our deepest sympathy goes to Kate’s family.
