The OHA Premier League Men face an interesting equation to reach the 2019 finals, needing a win against Diamondbacks next Saturday, and then for NWG to defeat Uni in the 6pm game. So 4th place on the ladder might not be decided until the 60th (and final) game of the regular season, such has been the tightness of the contest this year.
Unfortunately, the 2019 Canterbury hoodoo continued on Saturday 10-8-19, with OHA going down 1-2 in a tight and tough encounter where Penalty Corner defence held strong at both ends. Canterbury led 1-0 until a trademark Sam McCambridge field goal got OHA back on level terms. But OHA then couldn’t find a reply to a second field goal from Canterbury.
The result ensures 3rd place for Canterbury, after a much-improved season that sees them in the finals for the first time in a decade. Congratulations to them. 4th place remains open and we’ll keep our fingers crossed for the combination of outcomes needed in the ultimate round. Get out there this Saturday and cheer at 3pm on Pitch 1!
