Our Premier League Men’s GK, Henry Chambers was treated to a goalkeeper training session at the Victorian Institute of Sport in Melbourne on 7 January. Following a request from Rachael Lynch, Henry joined the Victorian GK coach (and ex-Kookaburra) George Bazeley and current Kookaburra GK Johan Durst, in Johan’s first pitch training for 2019.
Johan is hoping for selection in some of the international Pro-league matches coming up in the next few months, so it was very kind and generous of him to allow Henry to share the session. Henry said he was nervous at the start, but both guys made him very welcome and he came off the pitch 90 minutes later with a huge smile on his face, and a nice start to sharpening his skills ahead of the 2019 season.
