OHA Junior Teams
OHA Hockey Club offers 3 areas for juniors to participate.
Boys – we field teams in the age groups of U13 (Div 1 & Div 2), U15 & U18
Girls – we field teams in the age groups of U13 (Div 1 & Div 2), U15 (Div 1 & Div 2) & U18
Stick2Hockey – previously known as U8’s & U10’s.
This year sees a change in the structure of junior age groups. Below is a guide for which age group a player is eligible for.

U18 2000, 2001 or 2002 10, 11 or 12
U15 2003 or 2004 8 or 9
U13 Div 1 2005, 2006 or 2007 5, 6 or 7
U13 Div 2 2006, 2007 or 2008 4 or new players in grade 5 or 6
The player’s age group is taken from the child’s age as at the 1st of January each year.
Eg: If a child is born on 27/05/2004 they will play in the U15 age group in 2018.

U18 Men
Games are played on the full size turf fields and the games runs for 2 x 25 minutes halves. The first game of the evening generally begins at 5:15pm, with the last game starting at 8:15pm*. The winter hockey roster generally runs from March to August with finals being played in late August and early September. Where possible, games will not be played during school holidays. The junior roster for 2018 begins on the 27th April.
*This is subject to change prior to the roster starting depending on team numbers in each age group.
Training
Each U13, U15 & U18 boys & girls team will have a one hour training session each week. The training session is either on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoon and will depend upon the turf allocation given to the club by Hockey Tasmania and the coaches’ preference. You will be notified as soon as these are set.
Hockey Tasmania Registration
All players are required to register with Hockey Tasmania each year. This covers insurance and liabilities associated with Hockey Tasmania. This registration must be paid prior to the first round of games. *Registrations are open now! Click on the Registration post to register for the 2018 season.
Club fees
Club fees cover costs associated with training and games at the THC. The fees are invoiced to the families after the season starts and are required to be paid by the end of June (date will be confirmed on invoices). Early bird discounts are available, and families with 2 or more children playing hockey with OHA also receive a family discount.
